The Gornergrat (Gorner Ridge; 3,135 m (10,285 ft)) is a rocky ridge of the Pennine Alps in Switzerland. It can be reached from Zermatt by the Matterhorn rack railway (Gornergrat Bahn), the highest open-air railway in Europe. Between the Gornergrat railway station (3,090 m) and the summit is the Kulm Hotel and observatory (3,120 m).

I fell in love with Monte Rosa (The lumpy bit in the middle of the frame). It took my breath away but I was also suffering from Periodic breathing, due to the altitude (3136 m ;-)
The massif is straddled by two large glaciers, Gorner Gletscher (Glacier) on the left and Grenzgletscher to the right. Though unassuming, both of Rosa's peaks* (Nordend 4612 m & Dufourspitze 4638 m) are higher than her famous neighbour, the Matterhorn (4482 m)!
*The peak to the right of frame looks taller, but is actually closer to the camera (Westgipfel 4478 m).

The UNESCO Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area is located in south-western Switzerland between the cantons of Berne and Valais. It is a mountainous region in the easternmost side of the Bernese Alps, containing the northern wall of Jungfrau and Eiger, and the largest glaciated area in western Eurasia, comprising the Aletsch Glacier. The Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area is the first World Natural Heritage site in the Alps.
